Carl Kenneth Stolpe
Carl Kenneth Stolpe, a devoted family man, accomplished civil engineer, and dedicated community servant, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 22, 2024, at the age of 89.
Born on March 21, 1935, in Newark, New Jersey, to Frederick and Earnestine Stolpe, Carl grew up in Springfield, NJ, where he graduated from high school in 1953. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Air Force as a member of the 169th Air Warning Squadron. Carl served with honor from 1953 to 1957 in Italy, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge.
Carl pursued higher education at Newark College of Engineering, earning both an associate degree and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering by 1962. His engineering career spanned four decades, being a licensed professional engineer in New Jersey, Vermont, and Florida. Early in his career, he managed engineering operations at Research Cottrell, where he oversaw the construction of industrial cooling towers. Carl also made significant contributions to the pharmaceutical industry through his work with Merck, Sandoz, and Johnson & Johnson.
Midway through his career, Carl’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish a residential development and building company, constructing over 50 homes in New Jersey. Later, he worked as an engineering consultant, lending his expertise to major corporations across the United States, Europe, and Puerto Rico.
In retirement, Carl found a new purpose, applying his extensive construction knowledge as a construction manager for Habitat for Humanity in Martin County, Florida, helping to build homes for families in need. In Easton, PA, Carl served his community as a board member on the Riverview Active Adult Estates homeowners association.
In 2010, Carl married Elaine Vincent Cederquist. Together, they shared a love of travel, golf, attending concerts and theater events, and created cherished memories in their later years.
Carl was predeceased by his son, Eric James Stolpe, and sister, Arlene Baker. He is survived by his children from his marriage to Janet Stolpe: Cynthia Ann Uek, William Kenneth Stolpe, and Christopher Michael Stolpe and many grandchildren. Carl’s legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family will live on in the lives he touched.
