Dalton A. Miller
Dalton A. Miller, 89 of Allentown passed away on December 3, 2024 surrounded by his family at Cedarbrook in Allentown. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Spaar) Miller, they were married 66 years on June 7th.
Dalton was born in Wescosville on June 23, 1935 son of the late Malcom and Mildred (Litzenberger) Miller.
He graduated from Allentown High school Class of 1953.
He volunteered for the draft during the Korean War. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 in Ansbach Germany obtaining the rank of Sp. 4. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Following his discharge from the US Army her served in the reserves until March 31, 1963.
He took construction courses at night school under the G.I. Bill. In 1952 he worked for R.D. Charles Contracting, in 1958 he worked at Mack Trucks, and Dougherty Roofing, in 1959 he worked for Lurie Engineering on the new Northampton High School.
Dalton was a lifelong carpenter, 58year member of Carpenters Union Local 167 in Bethlehem who worked on various construction projects.
He worked for the former Walker Eby, Inc. Contracting for 20 years and retired from the Alvin H. Butz, Inc. in 1995. He was a carpenter and carpenter Forman, assistant supervisor at the Lehigh County Prison.
Dalton was a faithful member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church at 729 St. John Street Allentown until it’s closure.
Survivors: Wife Patricia, daughter Carol Hyrowich wife of Mark, daughter in law Donna Miller, son in law Dave Hoin, sister Sharon Legat wife of Steve, brother-in-law Joseph, grandchildren Tammy Miller, Adam Miller, Hayden Hyrowich husband of Liza, Wyatt Hoin husband of Kristina and Dylan Hoin; two great-grandchildren Isaiah and Jemil. Predeceased by a daughter Kim Hoin, son John Miller, great-grandson Seth, sisters Marilyn Miller and Jean Gillette.
