Dr. Dutt V. Bulusu, 85, of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home on December 5, 2023. He was in the loving company of his wife, children, and hospice aide.

Dutt was born on April 18, 1938, in Pithapuram, Andhra Pradesh, India, to Aditya Dutt Bulusu and Kanakavalli Bulusu (Gollakota). As a boy, he enjoyed singing and playing various racket sports. He was a bright and curious student who loved physics.

He and his family immigrated to the United States, where he completed his PhD and post-doctoral studies in Physics at the University of Southern California. A pioneer in fiber optics, he holds several patents in this field. He had a long and fulfilling career as an engineer and research scientist, working for leading companies such as Honeywell, Bell Labs, and Lucent Technologies, retiring in 2004.

Dutt is survived by his wife, Radha; his son, Aditya Bulusu, MD (Usha Bulusu, MD) of Saginaw, MI; his daughter, Sudha Bulusu (Shekhar Annambhotla, MD-Ayu) of Coopersburg, PA; and five beloved grandchildren, Arjun, Asha, and Veena Bulusu and Krishna and Kishore Annambhotla.

Aside from his love of science, Dutt enjoyed long walks admiring trees, spending time with family and friends, listening to music, reading, and watching movies and TV programs.

He battled IPF (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis) bravely until it became too difficult for him. He was grateful to be at home under hospice care during his last year.
