Fred Filipak, 71, of Passaic, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home in Lower Macungie, PA, on March 4, 2025.

Born to Bruno Filipak and Josephine Mazur, Fred was raised in Elmwood Park, NJ, where he made lifelong friends and played football for Elmwood Park Memorial High School.

Fred dedicated much of his career to GOW-MAC Instrument Company, where his hard work and dedication were evident to all who knew him.

For 21 years, Fred shared his life with his beloved wife, Joan Ritter, creating a home filled with love and laughter. He was also a devoted father and stepfather, always there with encouragement, wisdom, and a kind heart.

Fred is survived by his sons, Daniel Filipak and Steven Filipak; his stepchildren, Jason Ritter, husband of Bobbi Jo Nelson, and Jennifer Ritter, partner of Chris Odenwelder; and his adored grandchildren, Cassidy (13), Jameson (4), and Zayden (3); and brother Joe Filipak. One of his greatest joys was his family, especially the grandchildren, who brought light and joy into his life.

Services: A celebration of Fred’s life will be announced at a later date, at the convenience of his family.
