John J. Garcia
John J. Garcia, 84 of Freemansburg, passed away on April 4, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. John was the husband of Elizabeth (Loncaric) Garcia, they would have been married 59 years on July 7.
John was born in Center Valley on July 12, 1936, son of the late Jesus and Helen (Phillip) Garcia.
After graduating Bethlehem High School in 1955, John worked at Bethlehem Steel, was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, and was the proprietor of Garcia’s Atlantic Service Station. John was a machinist and union Shop Steward at Ingersoll-Rand, Phillipsburg, where he worked for 36 years before retiring in 2000. In May, 2005 he received his A.A.S. degree in Electromechanical Technology.
His mechanical aptitude was meticulous and uncompromising, whether rebuilding an engine, doing household repairs, or trimming the hedges. A man of few words, he taught his sons by example: to do things right the first time, the value of a dollar, and the ethics of hard work.
Survivors: His wife Elizabeth, sons John J. Garcia (Wendy), Matthew M. Garcia (Felicia), and Kevin C. Garcia; sister Mary Ann Mucka (Joseph); grandsons Max and Ryan Garcia. Predeceased by brother James and sister Jeannette Guidon.
Viewing and Mass: Friday April 9, 2021. Viewing from 8:45AM to 9:45 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM all at Holy Infancy Catholic Church 312 E. 4 th Street Bethlehem. Burial with military honors in Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem.
