Louis P. Michelin
Louis P. Michelin, age 92, of Bethlehem, went home to the Lord on January 25, 2025. Lou was born in Bethlehem, to parents Peter and Angela. A lifetime resident of Bethlehem, Lou graduated from Liberty High School in 1949. From there, Lou went on to study at Moravian College.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Social Studies, Lou married Joyce Salasky and enlisted with the United States Army in 1953, where he was ultimately discharged as a 1st Lieutenant. Lou is a Korean War Veteran and was an Officer at the Suez Canal. After he returned home, Lou continued his career at Bethlehem Steel, until he retired in 1991.
Lou was very active in the community. He was an avid golfer, bridge, and pinochle player. He served as the Fairview PTA President, was the Bethlehem Steel Club Secretary for 9 years, and later, was a member of several committees at Kirkland Village Retirement community.
Lou was predeceased by his wife, Joyce, and son Jeffrey. He is survived by his children Diane Drahos and her husband David, his daughter Jennifer Tortorella, grandchildren Diane Michelin, Jay Michelin, Karen VanLeeuwen and her husband Paul, Cassandra Michelin, Kristen Drahos and her husband Alejandro Castrillon, and Danny Michelin, as well as many great-grandchildren.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the USO, an organization he felt strongly about.
