Sandor Mery
Sandor Mery, 89, of Allentown, passed away at Rittenhouse Village in Allentown on Monday March 24, 2025.
Sandor was born in Kecskemét, Hungary in 1935, son of the late Geza and Erzsebet (Nagy) Mery. He immigrated to the United States in 1956, where he first lived in Philadelphia, and then Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Sandor was a beloved father, uncle, and grandfather. He was a painter at the Phoebe Home in Allentown, retiring after many years. He was a unique person who had a love for DIY construction projects, classical music and songbirds. Prior to his second stroke, Sandor could often be found on afternoon walks around Salisbury Township. For many years he frequented the former Dunkin Donuts and McDonalds on South 4th Street, where he drank coffee and had spirited conversations with other cafe patrons.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Memory Care Unit at Rittenhouse Village for the exceptional care given to Sandor over the last few years.
Survivors: son Alexander Mery husband of Mary H. Lukas, two grandchildren Alexander and Augusta wife of Thomas Flamm, nephew Bob Szita, and two nieces Laura Szita and Pamela (Szita) Remmel.
