Katherine Campirides
Katherine Campirides, 93 of Astoria, NY formerly of Easton and Coplay died on June 8, 2018 in Mt. Sinai Hospital in Astoria NY. Wife of the late Michael Campirides, who died on July 5, 2004.
Katherine was born in New Brunswick, NJ on December 16, 1924, daughter of the late Michael and Stamatia (Kasternakis) Drosakis. She grew up in Coplay and Easton.
Katherine and Michael had a catering service for many years before retiring to Lake Worth, Florida. She also enjoyed being a homemaker.
Katherine was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Astoria and St. Mark’s Greek Orthodox Church in Boca Raton, FL, where she was an active member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society. She also volunteered for the #108 Precinct in Astoria, NY for many years helping the neighborhood children.
Katherine loved to travel, sew, was a great cook and was a very creative person. She will be lovingly remembered by her family as a wonderful wife, mother, Yiayia, sister, aunt and a dear friend to many.
Survivors: Her daughter Joanne C. Perez wife of Frank of Blauvelt, NY, son Frank Campirides husband of Mary Lynn of Bayside, NY; six grandchildren Jamie Campirides wife of Stephen Atanasio, Chrysanthe Georgatos wife of Andy Georgatos, Frank Perez husband of Stefanie, Andrea Perez wife of Arash Mossafa , Diana Reynolds wife of Mitch Reynolds and Katherine Campirides; seven great-grandchildren Katerina, Lyla, Sofia, Frank, Grace, Kayla and Maya; nieces, nephews and cousins. Katherine is also survived by her dedicated caretaker Lydia Manzo who enabled her to remain in her own home, treating her like her own Mother and ensuring she enjoyed life daily.
Predeceased by a son James Campirides on August 13, 2012 and sisters Bessie Zamantakis and Vera Bouzakis.
