Presvytera Maria Kossis
Presvytera Maria Kossis, 82 of Bethlehem Twp., died on Friday October 28, 2016 at her residence. She was the wife of Rev. Nicholas Kossis, they were married 59 years. She was born in Athens, Greece and immigrated her in 1967. In 1967 her husband was ordained to the priesthood and assigned to their first community in Aliquippa, PA. In 1981 they were reassigned to serve in Easton, PA, and finally serving in Bethlehem, PA. In her quiet demeanor, Presvytera Maria served with grace, honor and a devotion to God. She was the beacon that sustained a highly dedicated priest so that he could answer God’s calling and complete his mission. Presvytera Maria was known for her generous hospitality and comforting ways. She enjoyed many fond years entertaining archbishops, bishops, seminarians and visiting priests and faithful with their families. Presvytera Maria touched many lives and will be remembered for her gentle nature, her inner strength, and for serving all with unconditional love, respect and compassion. She taught us the true nature of love-agape. She will be greatly missed
Survivors: Her husband Rev. Nicholas Kossis, her son Stratos and daughter-in-law Laraine Kossis of Nazareth, PA. Her three grandchildren, Nicholas, Christina and Gregory. Predeceased by a daughter Vasiliki.
Services: There will be a viewing on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 7PM to 9 PM and on Monday October 31, 2016 from 10:30 AM to 11 AM, followed by the Funeral at 11 AM in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral 1607 West Union Blvd. Bethlehem. Burial will follow, in Easton Cemetery in Easton, PA. Funeral arrangements are by the John F. Herron Funeral Home, 458 Center At Market Street in Bethlehem, PA
