Emanuel (Manny) C. Bakis
Emanuel (Manny) C. Bakis, 90, of Allentown passed away on March 7, 2022. He was the loving husband of Helen (Kladias) Bakis, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Manny was born in Allentown to the late Charles and Bessie Bakis on May 13, 1931. He graduated from Allentown High School and Allentown Business College, after which he served in the Korean War with the 101st Airborne and 3rd Infantry Divisions. He and his brother, Theodore Bakis, owned and operated C. Bakis Sons Florists in Allentown until 1987. During his younger years, Manny performed in several different bands and orchestras. Manny loved the outdoors and spending time with his family at their Pocono home in Hawley, PA. He was a life-long member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Bethlehem, where he also served for several years as a member the Council and as a volunteer for the Cathedral’s Senior Citizens group. He was a member of the Order of AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association).
Survivors: Wife Helen; children Sofia of Allentown and Charles of State College, PA; brother Theodore and wife Kathy of Allentown; and several nieces and nephews.
Viewing and Funeral: The viewing and funeral will be held on Thursday, March 10, at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1607 West Union Boulevard, Bethlehem, PA 18018. The viewing will be 12 – 1 PM and the funeral will begin at 1 PM and livestreamed using www.stnicholas.org/Bakis
