Constantinos Grigoras
Constantinos Grigoras passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the age of 97. He passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital-Anderson in Easton, PA surrounded by his family. Costas was the husband of Aspasia (Bouras) Grigoras, they were married 48 years on March 17th. Costas was born on January 31, 1925 to Andreas Grigoras and Maria (Thoma) in Andros, Greece. Costas was the youngest of 12 siblings. Following his time in the Greek navy and earlier years working aboard merchant vessels, Costas came to meet his sister, Irene Psitos (Grigora), in Easton, Pennsylvania where he established his life and raised his family.
Costas began his new life in the U.S. working in the restaurant business. Having worked for different restaurants, Costas achieved his dream of running his own business, partnering with his friends Theodore Psitos and Anthony Karanikolas and buying the Cross Timber Inn in Palmer Township. Successfully running the business for over 26 years, Costas whom affectionately had been now known as “Gus” was always supportive of his family in the U.S. but also of his family in Greece.
His life in the U.S. was enriched by the Greek community of the Lehigh Valley which he had now embraced as his new home. A member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Easton, Pennsylvania, Costas had created strong bonds with the other members and families, having the community a part of his extended family now. After retirement, Costas continued to visit Greece during the summer time and always enjoyed meeting with his family there. As the last of the Grigoras siblings, Costas had numerous nieces and nephews who admired him for his dignity and loving and gentle nature.
The same admiration was given to Costas from not only the Greek community in the Lehigh Valley, but everyone who had come in contact with him from the Cross Timber Inn or from one of the other restaurants he had worked at.
Costas is lovingly remembered by his wife Aspasia (Bouras), his daughter Maria Grigoras wife of Spiros Tatakis of Easton and son John Grigoras husband of Eirini Krampi of Athens, Greece, four grandchildren Antonios, Konstantinos, Melina Sophia, Eleftheria, and a many other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
